Mount St. Helens, located in Washington State, USA, is one of the most well-known active stratovolcanoes in the world. Famous for its catastrophic eruption in 1980, the volcano remains a key case study in physical geography, tectonic activity, and disaster management. In this edition of Map of the Day – World, we focus on the geographical location, geological structure, and impact of Mount St. Helens, particularly within the Pacific Ring of Fire. This map is designed to strengthen UPSC aspirants’ understanding of world volcanoes, Earth’s internal processes, and relevant GS Paper 1 and Geography Optional topics.
