Rajendra Chola I, one of the greatest rulers of the Chola dynasty, reigned during the 11th century and took the Chola Empire to its zenith. Known for his successful military expeditions, including the famous naval campaign to Southeast Asia, he expanded the empire beyond the Indian subcontinent. A patron of art, architecture, and administration, Rajendra Chola I also established Gangaikonda Cholapuram as his capital. His legacy remains a shining example of India’s maritime strength, cultural richness, and imperial power during the medieval period.
